The difference between customers and prospects
Updated on January 26th, 2022
This is a very common question. Customers and Prospects are almost identical except for these differences:
- Customer Accounts are for businesses that have actually bought something from your business
- Prospect Accounts are for businesses that you might have created estimates for but they haven’t yet bought anything
Once a Prospect actually buys something from you, they will automatically become a Customer. This can happen two ways:
- You created an estimate (which they approved) so you converted that estimate into an invoice
- You simply created an invoice for the Prospect
Either of the two actions above will result in a Prospect being converted into a Customer.
