The difference between customers and prospects

    Updated on January 26th, 2022

This is a very common question. Customers and Prospects are almost identical except for these differences:
    • Customer Accounts are for businesses that have actually bought something from your business
    • Prospect Accounts are for businesses that you might have created estimates for but they haven’t yet bought anything

Once a Prospect actually buys something from you, they will automatically become a Customer. This can happen two ways:

    1. You created an estimate (which they approved) so you converted that estimate into an invoice
    2. You simply created an invoice for the Prospect

Either of the two actions above will result in a Prospect being converted into a Customer.
